Senpai

Senpai is the opponent for Week 6, "Hating Simulator." He is a charming, handsome character within a retro dating-sim video game world. However, beneath his cheerful exterior lurks the Spirit — a malevolent entity trapped within the game by Daddy Dearest. Week 6 is unique in that the entire stage uses pixel-art visuals, including Boyfriend and Girlfriend.

Appearance

Senpai Form

Senpai appears as a handsome young man rendered in pixel art, with blond/light-brown hair styled neatly, wearing a school uniform. His design parodies classic dating-sim love interests with an intentionally generic "perfect boyfriend" look. He has a pleasant smile and soft features.

Angry Senpai

During "Roses," Senpai drops his charming facade. His expression becomes enraged, his eyes turn red, and his smile is replaced with a furious scowl. His dialogue becomes aggressive and threatening.

Spirit Form

In "Thorns," Senpai's face tears apart to reveal the Spirit — a glitchy, distorted face composed of red and black pixels. The Spirit is the true entity inhabiting Senpai's shell, and appears as a terrifying, corrupted version of the dating-sim world.

Story Role

Daddy Dearest traps Boyfriend and Girlfriend inside a dating-sim video game, hoping the entities within will defeat them. The week progresses as follows:

  • Senpai (Song 1): Senpai approaches cheerfully, treating the encounter like a dating-sim competition for Girlfriend's affection. He challenges Boyfriend to a musical duel.
  • Roses (Song 2): After losing, Senpai becomes furious and reveals his aggressive true nature. He threatens Boyfriend directly and launches an angrier, more intense battle.
  • Thorns (Song 3): The Spirit breaks free from its Senpai disguise. It reveals it was trapped in the game by Daddy Dearest long ago and seeks to use Boyfriend's body to escape into the real world. The final battle is a frantic, distorted digital showdown.

Musical Style

Week 6's songs use an entirely different musical approach from the rest of the game. All three tracks use chiptune/8-bit instrumentation to match the pixel-art aesthetic of the dating-sim world. The vocals also sound distinctly synthetic and retro, contrasting sharply with the other weeks' modern sound.

Trivia

  • Week 6 is the only week with a completely different visual style (pixel art) from the rest of the game.
  • The Spirit was trapped in the game by Daddy Dearest, hinting at a deeper backstory and lore.
  • "Roses" contains an explicit dialogue warning ("Roses" content warning appears before the song in some versions).
  • The pixel-art style is a parody of dating simulation games popular in Japan.
  • "Thorns" is one of the fastest and most technically demanding songs on Hard difficulty.
  • The Spirit's dialogue suggests he has been trapped for a very long time and is desperately seeking escape.
