Week 7 — Tankman
Week 7 is the final week of the base game and represents its most ambitious content. Featuring Tankman (Sgt. John Captain) — a character created by JohnnyUtah, Newgrounds co-founder and FNF team member — this week is notable for being the first to include fully animated cutscenes between songs. It was originally released as a Newgrounds exclusive, making it a celebration of the platform's legacy.
Stage
The stage is a barren military battlefield — a war-torn wasteland with gray skies, destroyed structures, and Tankman's soldiers watching from the background. The aesthetic is noticeably darker and more serious than previous weeks, reflecting the military theme. GF sits atop the speakers as usual, but during "Stress," her situation becomes dire as Tankman's soldiers surround her.
The background features Tankman's entire platoon — rows of identically helmeted soldiers who serve as spectators. This creates a sense of being outnumbered, reinforcing the high-stakes atmosphere of the final week.
Animated Cutscenes
Week 7 breaks new ground as the first FNF week with fully animated cutscenes that play between each song. These cutscenes were produced by professional animators and feature voice acting from JohnnyUtah himself as Tankman. The cutscenes advance the story, establish Tankman's irreverent personality, and build dramatic tension.
- Before "Ugh": Tankman confronts BF and GF, ordering his men to prepare for a fight. He's dismissive and crude, establishing his aggressive personality.
- Before "Guns": Tankman threatens Girlfriend directly, raising the stakes. The tension escalates as it becomes clear this isn't a friendly competition.
- Before "Stress": Tankman orders his soldiers to attack Girlfriend. Just when things look dire, Pico appears from behind cover with dual Uzis, fighting off the soldiers to protect BF and GF. Pico's surprise return is one of the game's biggest moments.

Pico's Return
One of Week 7's most celebrated moments is the unexpected return of Pico, who was BF's opponent back in Week 3. During the "Stress" cutscene, just as Tankman's soldiers are about to attack Girlfriend, Pico bursts from cover wielding dual Uzis and unleashes an action-sequence assault on the soldiers.
This reveal recontextualizes BF and Pico's relationship — rather than being enemies, the two are allies (and canonically ex-boyfriends, as confirmed by ninjamuffin99). Pico's appearance hints that BF's earlier "battles" may have had more nuance than initially apparent, and established a key character dynamic for future updates.
Newgrounds Exclusive Launch
Week 7 was originally launched as a Newgrounds exclusive, playable only on Newgrounds.com. This was a deliberate tribute to the platform that launched the careers of FNF's creators. The launch was so anticipated that it temporarily crashed the Newgrounds servers due to overwhelming traffic — a testament to FNF's massive popularity.
The exclusivity period lasted several weeks before Week 7 was made available on other platforms including itch.io. This event marked one of Newgrounds' biggest traffic spikes in its modern history.
